Acknowledgment of Understanding

Disability records are confidential, maintained in the Disability and Accessibility Services (DAS) office, and protected as an educational record under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). DAS will not release disability-related documentation or information without a student’s consent, except as permitted to university officials on a limited, need-to-know basis, or as otherwise permitted under FERPA.

Submitting this application is only part of the registration process. Appropriate disability documentation supporting the requested accommodations is also required. Obtaining and reviewing the provided documentation is a part of an interactive process between students and DAS. Professionals from DAS offer initial meetings, which provide students an opportunity to discuss disability-related needs and requests. These meetings allow students to share their strengths and needs, previous academic experiences, ideas regarding accommodations, and other information.

Accommodations received during high school or at another institution are not binding to Loyola University Maryland. DAS may propose an alternative accommodation that would be appropriate, which neither the student nor evaluator has requested. For various reasons, DAS may require additional or updated information. For example, DAS might need more information to understand the rationale for accommodation, other accommodations are requested, or an undergraduate student enters a Loyola graduate program.

By selecting Submit Application, I am indicating that I have read and understood the above statement.
